‘I’m certain we can do it if we all pull together at least we can give it a trial.’ Those were the words with which Arthur Rowe launched his first season in charge at Spurs. That 1949/50 season would see Spurs return to the top flight after too long in the second tier. Rowe who had succeeded Joe Hulme had been born within earshot of the ground and had previously been a player with Tottenham.

Every Picture where we try and dig out some of the great Spurs related images which you might not have seen or deserve another viewing. This does mean of course we are looking back more than at the current pictures but if you have any that haven't seen service across endless social media do contact me. In the meantime I feel sure this set will entertain you with a mix of action and off duty pics, and even a wedding. The Ad Break returns to help pass the time to kick off. A series that started as a little fun has certainly proved a winner with you. This time we have one advert you wish you had answered as well as various commercial adventures of club and players over the years. First up and Gary Lineker from his Walker Crisps series, here he is being tempted by Terry Venables whilst England manager Bobby Robson looks on. Tottenham have engaged German sides in friendly contests over the years, in this article we look back at some of the earlier ones including the first of these which was back in the early days of White Hart Lane, on 8th January 1901 when we entertained a side touring England under the name The German Association (although all the players were from the Berlin club) as they became the first side from mainland Europe to face Tottenham. Playing in four inches of snow the two sides served up a fifteen goal entertainment. The Art of Tottenham returns for another run over the coming weeks, where we gather Spurs related images from the art work drawn across the years. Thanks to everyone who sends in submissions and for trying to track down the original artist, in this world of social media not always easy. Such as this one of Wanyama which arrived with a note saying 'no idea.' If you can shed light on any on the pictures used please feel free. Or if you have contributions to the series, I'll look forward to hearing form you. This latest set of artifacts for inclusion into 'The Collection' for your weekend entertainment. Starting at the club's centenary with this lovely cockerel. We will skim over the last hundred years and look at fans and their travel plans. We include the clubs financial side, some celebrations and we look inside the Directors Box and there are a few other curio's I think you might like. As this season's FA Cup sees the big teams enter the competition we look at a few stats and some oddities from Tottenhams long affair with the trophy which started in 1894. We have reached the final on nine occasions, winning eight, three of those coming in replays. Only two teams have won the trophy more often than Spurs. Following a football free weekend a little bonus to start the New Year. One of the items that drew a interesting feedback over the last year was some of the old newspapers stories that appeared in various places. This sent me diving back into the files to see what other little gems could be rescued and given another airing for your pleasure. No apologies for most of them being 'older' but football coverage has changed over the years and you just don't get reporting like this anymore. As you will see from this cartoon from The Bournemouth Echo in 1909 showing Spurs having beaten Leeds City (not United) 3-1. As we see out the old year and ring in the new over a Spurs-less weekend a change of pace again. Some people enjoyed the 'olde' football pictures I used at different times so I felt you might like to take a moment and cast your eye over some old pics from the photo labyrinth in this "Every Picture" special. Only one has a Spurs link but I think your enjoy the set. Len Duquemin, who scored the goal that secured Tottenham their first League title in 1951 stands seventh in Tottenham’s all time scorers list. He scored a total of 134 goals in his career in 308 games (including one abandoned match), including three hat tricks. He was also the first Spur to score twenty goals for the club in the FA Cup. A major contributor to Arthur Rowe's Championship winning side and a man with a remarkable story. We continue our series that first ran last season on social media so successfully and is now re-imagined in an article format. We salute White Hart Lane and its part in our glorious history as we reach January the cup competition's kick in and records and milestones come thick and fast. We also welcome our first overseas visitors to The Lane. Its Christmas time again and this years special finds us running low on Christmas tales but I've dug out a great story that wont happen again. Along with some more wonderful images from Spurs across the years that I hope your like. A massive thanks to everyone who has chipped in comments, pics and whatever's during the year. To everyone who is celebrating have a wonderful Lilywhite Christmas and to all a happy and glorious new year. This Tottenham Mystery addresses one of the enduring myths that surrounds the club and its early days, and possibly lays it to rest as we also explore how it may of become corrupted over the years. We have all read that our Chairman, Charles Roberts was a pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team and many believe it as they have heard the statement being repeated ad nauseam but do we have any evidence to support it. In the 'Gallery' where we draw together a series of related images this time as we enter the festive period this set looks back at St Georges Day 1921. Drawn from newsreels and newspapers and coming from a private collection I was granted access to (1). I'm sure you find these interesting as we look back at when Tottenham became the first London club in 20 years to win the FA Cup since we had won it in 1901.
