The Gallery where we collect some images around one subject, this time we feature the King of Tottenham, Ledley King. In a career tainted with injury he still managed to score fifteen times in 321 games.

A quick read-bite looking at some of the hat tricks Spurs have scored over the years in competitive matches. Currently Harry Kane sits joint 4th in our all time hat trick chart. The leader is unsurprisingly Jimmy Greaves, with 15, George Hunt and Bobby Smith both have 12 while Harry has 10, along with Cliff Jones and Johnny Morrison. After the recent articles I was asked if I had anymore on programmes. A rummage through the archive and I came up with this set of images which I hope your enjoy and will help pass the time as we await another all-nighter game. The one think they all have in common is that they are quite rare and therefore should be new to you. Max Seeburg would become Tottenham’s first overseas player as well as the first European to play for a professional club in this country, Max was the first German to play for Spurs but he was hardly an international transfer swoop. Having been born in Leipzeg in 1884 his family moved to London when he was just two years old, where his father ran a fur shop close by Tower Bridge. Every Picture, where we attempt to find some images that haven't been splattered across the internet, some old some new, all worth another look. This time around we go from last week and travel back a hundred years. With on and off duty pictures and a few that might surprise you. We start with Mr. Gomes taking a breather. This time we turn our attention to our meetings with Bayer Leverkusen and 1FC Kaiserslautern in European competition. Starting with Leverkusen who we have met twice, our first clash being in the UEFA Cup 2006/7. At that time you only met other sides once during the group stage and our game fell away in the November, the third of our four games. Another midweek sidestep to ease the gap between games and a few more magazines that have featured the Tottenham boys in various forms. This time we start with Dele and friend on 442 magazine. This time around we will be examining how the club has reported itself in various guises in print. Next however is former manager Gerry Francis on Look-in a TV publication for kids. Not a great likeness. Have you ever wondered what it is like to be at home and unable to follow the team to the Cup Final? Despite reports that North London was empty on the day when we first completed in the FA Cup Final clearly many fans were still at home and their agonizing wait for news in the days before television or social media was recorded by the Hackney and Kingsland Gazette. The following report appeared below their match report, with grateful thanks. The Art of Tottenham and another gathering of artist images relating to Spurs drawn from across the years. This time we start with this one which was passed on to me. Rather clever but little idea of its origin. As ever thanks to those send in ideas and comments. Next up is another of Tottenham's superstars and Ossie Ardiles. Every Picture and another collection of Spurs images from across the years that may be new to you or at least worth another peek. This time we find some recent heroes both at play and off duty. There is another team picture and a couple of the boys in the corridors of power. We start with Aaron Lennon in 2008 When Bill Nicholson was asked who was the best player he ever played with he said Ron Burgess. Ron was the inspirational skipper of the side that won back to back Second and First Division Championships, the first Welshman to play for the Football League side and he also featured for Great Britain V Europe in 1947. That's in addition to 32 full International caps, the majority as captain. In total he played over five hundred games for the club.
Stanley was born in Hackney but his family moved to Kent and he started playing football at school locally before returning to London and later joining Spurs in 1892 at just 20 years of age. At which time he was already considered one of the finest amateur players in the country. He would lead the FA XI on their first overseas trip and help make Spurs one of the finest amateur teams in the south on England. In this trip to Planet Spurs to uncover tales that might otherwise get away and we start in France with some of the hazards of continent travel, one of our greatest managers gives an insight into his philosophy, the Army come to the rescue and the House of Lords learn about the owners of football clubs. While our regular 'Spurs and the Law' finds one of the legendary Double winners in court. Several people were kind enough to comment on the recent 'papers' and earlier articles and asked if there was any more. Thus I have looked through the files and selected some stories that may shed some light into the inner workings of Spurs and football over the years rather than match days that may just assume, shock and entertain you. Rumblings in the Board Room, players wages, Televised games (well half of it) and the refs cop an earful! A midweek diversion and another chance to gather together a few images from the Talking Tottenham files that might otherwise escape your attention. Starting with, the Tottenham racing car which we featured some time ago and this image shows our vehicle in the pits. We also dip into cakes, toys and tatts! As well as a few odd snippets. |
