In The Collection we look at various artifacts from the clubs history. This latest gathering starts with the banner from the last game at White Hart Lane. This one using the famous Nicholson gates photo. Next and the friendly match with Glasgow Celtic in August 1967, they had just become European Champions. Before the game the sides exchanged rugs instead of the traditional pennants. Keep an eye out in pre-season. With the World Cup drawing closer we explore the Tottenham connections with another of the countries taking part this summer, South, (officially The Republic of), Korea. Spurs have played in the country in one tournament and have featured a couple of players from there, as well as some of the international links. The Portrait Gallery where we look at some of the artists impressions of Tottenham men over the years and supply a photographic reminder (where needed) so that you can judge just how well the artist caught their subject. We start with our captain form the fifties Championship winning side, Ron Burgess, his further likenesses are below. Regular readers will know I caution against believing everything you read in the papers. Well this story I expect you will remember and you cant believe what you see either. Poor old Chris Ramsey 'airbrushed' from history at the whim of a sub-editor in April 2014. As we take another look at how the press have covered the Spurs. Keeping an eye on how the press have reported Spurs over the years and this time around we start with the front page and a story we covered in the series on the Double and the crowds for the Sunderland game. There is a story of what one of our team did on holiday. Bill Nicholson on the war path and an opponent takes to the mountains as well as some transfer gossip. Nearing the bottom of the adverts file, although you can still send in any I've missed. We start off this collection and its the 80's and Paul Miller who was use to getting to grips with defenders here promotes his own sportswear line with model Tessa Hewitt. Below - We find Terry Venables and this time he is promoting a hotel he owns in Spain. |
