Members view: “UNDER CONSTRUCTION” OR “UNDER REGRESSION?"

That’s the biggest dilemma facing Spurs right now. Which one better suits the jersey instead of the current logo “Under Armour”? This quandary must be eating the heads of board members after seeing the galloping start to the season transform into a tepid walk after the recent weeks. The stats looks very similar to the last season. We, once again, haven’t scored enough goals. The likes of West Brom, Crystal Palace and Hull City have outnumbered us in the goals department, putting our rich attacking line-up under shade. Cup games have proven to be incongruous as we have comfortably dispatched opponents but against the opposition belonging to the upper stratum in the league, we have capitulated miserably. Add to that the meek performances against the lower rung teams like West Brom and Newcastle, the usual mishap becomes an apocalypse. The stark difference to the last season is there in the less focused column of the EPL table though. Our defence had stood firm last season under AVB, grinding clean sheets and earning us victories, typically, by a goal to nil. The case, sadly, hasn’t been the same under Pochettino.

The India Spurs inspired campaign to have our legendary goalkeeper Bill Brown inducted into the Scottish Hall of Fame has proved successful. On Sunday evening the Hall of Fame announced at Hampden Park the home of Scottish football that he was indeed one of this years inductees.

Bill now stands alongside his old team mates John White, Dave Mackay (both from the Double team) and Alan Gilzean. As well as fellow Spurs Richard Gough and Steve Archibald.

R.I.P Andy porter

RIP Andy Porter.

I woke this morning to the sad news that the club had lost a great servant and ambassador and India Spurs a good friend. Andy served the club in an honorary role as its historian for more than 30 years.

Although I never met the man we corresponded by post and email regularly over the years. He always treated me like an old friend.. His knowledge of the club was simply amazing. Any requests for help would be answered speedily, often arriving at all hours of the night. Occasionally you would wait a couple of days then he would offer his apologies and say he had been checking details with other sources or ex-players on your behalf. Not only would he answer your question but he would point you towards other sources of information that always proved helpful.

My Eyes Have Seen The Glory

Football has taken a grip on the hearts and minds in India over the last few years and looks set to boom. The Tottenham faithful grows in number daily. At the start of the year when I wrote a personal tribute to Bill Nicholson I was aware that many of the India Spurs members (and its worldwide readership) would only know the man by legend. Therefore I tried to provide an insight into the man and his times as one of the many who was lucky enough to cheer and cry along with him during those Glory Days.

There were several stories handed down over the years that I excluded at that time as I couldn’t find collaborating evidence to support them. Now after even more digging I’ve included them here as this this week we mark the anniversary of his first team debut (22nd) and sadly the following day the 10th anniversary of his passing.

Ryan Mason, one of the highly rated Academy players, finally made his Premier League debut in the North London Derby last week.

He had a decent game, no Danny Rose style debut. He was given a job to do, and he did it well.

So, WHO IS RYAN MASON? And what's the big deal about him?
