RIP Andy Porter.

I woke this morning to the sad news that the club had lost a great servant and ambassador and India Spurs a good friend. Andy served the club in an honorary role as its historian for more than 30 years.

Although I never met the man we corresponded by post and email regularly over the years. He always treated me like an old friend.. His knowledge of the club was simply amazing. Any requests for help would be answered speedily, often arriving at all hours of the night. Occasionally you would wait a couple of days then he would offer his apologies and say he had been checking details with other sources or ex-players on your behalf. Not only would he answer your question but he would point you towards other sources of information that always proved helpful.

I know he helped enrich the articles I have written for India Spurs and I’m sure that many of my fellow scribes around the world will echo that thought. He leaves a legacy of several points of information that currently are awaiting for inclusion in future items.

To lose him at such a young age (54) makes the tragedy worse. My kind thoughts to his family at this time, The photo is from THOS.

May he rest in peace.

Thank you, on behalf of our family, for your kind words about my brother, Andy. We are proud to know that he will be remembered by so many for his generosity to others as well as his great love for and knowledge of THFC.
