The tribute to White Hart Lane which ran on social media last season to acclaim and repeated this season in a 'collected' format draws towards a close with another set of milestones from the stadiums history. As the new stadium towers over North London its....

White Hart Lane - Then Now Forever

23rd April1995  - St Georges Day and American Football arrives at WHL. The London Monarchs lose to the Amsterdam Admirals in front of  8,763 in a World League of American Football game.
23rd April 1910 – The Tottenham Football Charity Cup final Stroma Park played Bruce Grove Avondale – sorry don’t know the result.
24th April 1958 – The first South American team to play at The Lane are the Brazilian side,  Canto Do Rio. Tottenham. See - Connections - Brazil.
24th April 1953 - London schools played the Midlands

24th April 1965 – A 6-2 win means Spurs have gone through the season unbeaten at home. (19 wins 3 draws)

25th April 1992 – The last Football League game at WHL ends in a 3-3 draw V Everton. The last goal scorer  is Paul Stewart.

25th April 1931 – Ted Harper has missed 12 games through injury during the season but in the win over Barnsley he scores his 36th League goal of the season a new club record.

26th April 1920 – When Birmingham City hold Spurs to a 0-0draw they become the only  team that season to keep a clean sheet at WHL.


27th April 1901 – The team play Gravesend in a Southern League game after they are refused permission to postpone the game. The club field a reserve side and win 5-0.
The first XI being otherwise engaged - they were in Bolton winning the FA Cup Final.

27th April 1993 – Spurs entertain Real Madrid and Inter Milan in the Fiorucci Cup at WHL. The three sided competition consists of 45 minute games. Real Madrid beat Tottenham 0-1 and then the home team draw 0-0 with Inter. A penalty shootout ends up with the Italians winning 6-5.

28th April 1951 – WHL is the scene when Tottenham clinch their first ever League Championship with a 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

28th April 1975  - we beat Leeds 4-1 to, Full back Cyril Knowles scores twice.

28th April 1956 - Bobby Smith scores his first Spurs hat trick as we beat Sheffield United 3-1.
29th April 1944 - and a 1-0 win over Clapton Orient wins the club the Wartime Football League South title.
29th April 1901 – On the Monday evening the club hosted at White Hart Lane a celebration of the FA Cup triumph two days earlier. Thousands attended and amongst  other entertainments there was a ‘Kinematograph show’ which included pictures from both of the games in the final tie. The Tottenham brass band and a firework display.

30th April 1910 – The club set a new gate receipts record of £2,163 as our win over Chelsea keeps us in division one and sends them down.
30th April 1921 – Before the game with Huddersfield the FA Cup, won the week before the trophy is paraded around the ground for the fans to see by the grounds man John Over.

30th April 1946 Cranfield played St. Ignatuius in the final of the Tottenham Youth Cup.

1st May 1990 – Spurs play a Northern Ireland XI in a benefit game for Danny Blanchflower. (top on the night with Gascoigne).

1st May 1946 – We host the final of the London Transport Cup.
2nd May 1946 - Tottenham Charity Cup final sees Walthamstow Avenue play Crossbrook Sports.

4th May 1939 – There is no game at WHL - It had been chosen to host the FA Cup Final replay it was needed but the tie was settled at the first attempt.
4th May 1912 - The FA Charity Shield is played at WHL for the first time when Blackburn beat QPR 2-1.
