As we have no game to look forward to in mid week I thought you might fancy another quick trip down Memory Lane? Seeing Swansea’s Chinese dragons at the weekend reminded me of the various wildlife we have at White Hart Lane. There’s two bears, a tiger, camels, horses, a chimpanzee, a beast, cats and dogs and yes I’m sure we will find you a cockerel.

First up in November 1962, in between two league games Spurs flew to Cairo and played a midweek friendly with the Zamalek club. Just to prove nothing is new, the weekend before we won at Fulham 4-0 the weekend after a home draw, 1-1, with Sheffield Wednesday. And you thought the old Saturday / Wednesday European hangover was new. For the record we beat Zamalek club 7-3 in front of 60,000 (Not a bad crowd for a midweek friendly) Greaves and Dyson both got a brace, Medwin, White, and Jones one each. In these first two images we find the boys sightseeing.

Image 3 - finds Jimmy Greaves again this time with Linda, at a Christmas party for the PDSA. That’s a animals charity in the UK.

Then (4) Pat Jennings has breakfast with Tony the Tiger (Yes I know its cheating). As he advertises Frosties cereal. They asked pat because he's Great !

I’ve heard of Beauty and the Beast but the Bear and the Beast, (top image), finds our own Beast with Pudsey Bear. Pudsey is the symbol of the Children in Need Charity in the UK. He is seen here on a recent visit to Hotspur Way when he took on Chirpy in a skills challenge. Check out the THTV link if you haven’t seen it. Chirpy might have won the day but Sandro made a new friend.

You will remember the Anfield cat (5) from last season. How many of you though remember the Goodison Dog (6) ? No its not Everton’s substitute, our lads look on while a local dog tells the ref what he thinks during our visit in 2000.

Good job Jimmy Greaves wasn’t there during the 1962 World Cup game with Brazil a dog ran on the field and Jimmy caught it and carried it off. Jimmys reward was the dog peed on him. The dogs reward was he was adopted by one of the Brazilian players.

7-  "Teddy" Sheringham in 1995 did a promotional picture after signing a new contract with Adidas.  Teddy I dont think they paid you enough.

8. I promised you a cockerel.
8. Well maybe not a cockerel, but this pitch invasion was before the Spurs V Exeter FA Cup 6th Round game.
One of our groundsman with some netting attempts to catch him.  Theres no date on the caption, I assume its
1981 ?

OK, We all know there's only one cockerel.
Here it is when he was little more than a chick (9) and as he looks today (10) Beautiful.

10. These days he lives inside.
And not a Turfie in sight ! although we did have a fox living in the car park but couldn't find an image, maybe he was shy. By the way its the Chinese year of the Horse, The next year of the Cockerel is 2017.
