George Hunt would have played but for a groin injury. 13th Nov. 1915, sees Arsenal's first visit to WHL after moving north of the river. The London Football Combination game is a 3-3 draw. 14th November 1910 – The Football League played their first game at WHL and lost to the Southern League 2-3. 14th November 1936 and George Hunt scores his 11th hat trick for Spurs taking him to the top of the list as we beat Chesterfield 5-1. Bobby Smith later equaled that record before Jimmy Greaves overtook them. 15th Nov1924 - Jack Elkes scores a hat trick as we beat Blackburn 5-0 in Division One. 16th November 1991 – The Lane’s floodlights fail during the second half of the game V Luton when Spurs trail 0-1. After a quarter of an hour the game restarts and Spurs turn it around to win 4-1. 16th Nov 1968 Jimmy Greaves scores 4 V Sunderland in a 5-1 win. It’s his fourth hat trick of the season and the third time he has scored four hat tricks a season in four years. The year before he could only manage three. Its also the last of the 15 which makes the top hat trick man for Spurs. 16th Nov 1960 Spurs take time out from winning the Double to beat Dinamo Tbilisi at WHL. 17th November 1900 – The FA make us wait for official sanction to join the Western League when it finally arrives we start with a 8-1 win over Portsmouth left - Vivian Woodward The 18th November is a busy day with - 1950 – In what has been describe as one of our best ever performances we beat Newcastle at home 7-0 and it’s our a record eighth consecutive league win. 1965 – Maurice Norman’s career is ended in a friendly game V Hungarian Select XI. Spurs win 4-0. while in 1939 due to ground sharing we played away to Arsenal at WHL in Football League South with the game abandoned after an hour due to fog. 19th Nov. 1960 and the biggest win in the double season, 6-0 over Birmingham, Dyson and Jones get two each, White and a Smith penalty. 19th Nov. 1927 Tottenham's 500th competitive game at WHL is a 2-2 draw with Sheffield United in Division One. Nov 21st 1931 - We beat Port Vale 9-3 the first time we score nine in a Football League Game. Willie Davies has a hat trick Jimmy Brain 2, Hunt 2, Dave Colquhoun 1 and a penalty from Bert Lyons. We have only scored nine three times since then (Forest 1962 and Bristol rovers 1977 and Wigan 2009). Left - Hunt here V WBA in 1931 Talking of which, 22nd non 2009, Jermain Defoe is the first player to score five goals in the same half of a PL game when we beat Wigan 9-1 at home. He also becomes only the third Spurs player to score five in a League game for Spurs joining Ted Harper (1930) and Bobby Stokes (1957). It was only 1-0 at half time and Crouch, Bentley, Kranjcar and Lennon also score 25th November 1912 – England hold a trial game at The Lane, 10,000 turn up to watch, England V the South. Vivian Woodward scores once as the South win 2-1. This is the first of four England Trials at The Lane the last being in 1929. 25th Nov 2000 Les Ferdinand scores his first Spurs hat trick as we beat Leicester 3-0. The touring Kaffirs team, 1899. 29th Nov 1980 the last game at WHL before the old West Stand is demolished V WBA. Right - Note the empty stand in that game. 30th November 1949 – England beat Italy 2-0 at the Lane in England's fourth match at WHL. 1st December 1937 – Having played twice at WHL before England return and this time play Czechoslovakia (all three games have been in December) England wining this one 5-4. Stanley Mathews scores his only hat trick in the game. Left - Before hand Tottenham's Gilroy, Grace and Ward meet the visitors. There are nearly forty six thousand in the ground despite a 2.30pm kick off. Tottenham's Willie Hall is in the England team. 2nd December 1998, The League Cup 5th round with Manchester United. Armstrong 2 and Ginola score in a 3-1 win on the way to our Wembley success COYS
