We discover another set of milestones 'Along the Lane' as we gather together our tribute to White Hart Lane from last season. To celebrate its participation in the clubs glorious history.

White Hart Lane Then-Now-Forever

3rd October 1908 – A 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane with Derby County makes the record books as it’s the first one Tottenham ever played in the Football League.

3rd October 1984 - Garth Crooks scores his third and last hat trick for Spurs in a 6-0 win over Sporting Braga in the UEFA Cup. Each of his hat tricks came in different competitions. The others were in Division One and the League Cup. Top pic - Crooks on debut.
5th October 1925 The Charity Shield is played at White Hart Lane on a Monday afternoon with The Amateurs beating The Professionals 6-1. The Professionals were drawn from the FA XI  touring side that had just returned from Australia.  Tottenham’s Cyril Poynton and Jack Elkes (who hit the post) were included in the side. One newspaper report claimed the Amateurs won because of their use of the changes in the off-side law that had been introduced at the start of that season.

6th October 2007 (and the next day) There is a ‘zip wire challenge’ which enabled you to fly over the WHL pitch in aid of a children’s charity.

7th October 1899 – Jack Kirwan scores a hat trick in a 6-1 win over Brighton United. It’s the first in a competitive game at the Lane but it is later removed from the record books when Brighton withdraw from the League. David Copeland had previously scored a hat trick for Spurs in the friendly V Notts County when the ground was officially opened.

9th  Oct 1920  -  We beat Chelsea 5- 0 at White Hart Lane. Bert Bliss scores a hat trick., Jimmy Dimmock and Charlie Wilson the other. The following week in the return we win 4-0 (Wilson, 2, Bliss and Dimmock) in a game watching by King George V.

Tottenham defeat Wolves 5-1 with Bobby Smith scoring four times and Cliff Jones the other.

Cliff remembered that when the players entered the Board room after the game they found her sitting on the chairman’s lap.

Jayne was undertaking a promotion tour of the UK and the following day saw her open a stretch of new motorway.

Tottenham have five different scorers Neil Johnson, Clayton, Gilzean, Greaves, and Robertson before United score late on and Spurs win 5-1.

Jimmy Greaves goal (above) is one of the best ever seen at the ground as at the end of a eleven pass move Greaves went past three defenders and the goalie before scoring which left Gilzean standing applauding.

He opened the scoring in the thirteenth minute. Lamela added two (29th, his rabona goal  & 66th) Harry picked up his second in the 75th and rounded off his haul when he headed home in the 81st.
