Part of our celebration of White Hart Lane during this the last season in the grounds current guise has been a series of ‘snapshots in time’ on social media marking various events at the ground since our arrival in 1899. Now as the season approaches its climax we gather these ‘milestones’ together as part of our permanent tribute to the ground.
As the season opens there are a number of events linked to our earliest days.

The game did see the first team debut of Harry Kane who would win a penalty and then see his shot saved. Hardly a game to set before Dave Mackay, a legend at both clubs who was making his last trip to WHL that night. http://www.indiaspurs.com/blog/hotspur-towers-europa-league-2012

Only 20.953 people can make the revised time at short notice but Spurs win 4-0 with a brace each for Taffy O’Callaghan and George Hunt.
30th August, 1930 - Ted Harper scores five times as Spurs beat Reading 7-1. It’s the first time a Spurs player hits five in a League game and won’t be done again for nearly 30 years. Ted scores three more hat tricks that same season and six in total to put him joint fourth in the hat trick charts alongside Jermain Defoe and Martin Chivers.

Tom Smith joined Spurs in May 1898 and spent four years with the club being a member of the side that won the Southern league and FA Cup. A quick outside right he was famous for the accurately of his crosses. He played for an England XI V their Scottish counterparts. At that time Spurs played in a variety if competitions and Tom made a total of 225 appearances scoring 55 goals including one in the 1901 Cup Final replay. He later returned to Spurs in 1907, to play in the 1901 cup final team at a benefit game. He also played cricket and rugby to a high standard and his son was the referee at the 1946 Cup Final.
9th September, 1907 - And the lowest gate ever for a competitive match at WHL as Tottenham entertain Bristol Rovers game in the Western League. The Western League was very much a second priority as we were also in the Southern League. Only 500 watch Spurs win 10-0. Pass scores 4, Reid 3, and Morris Walton and McNair one each.
James Pass was born in India (see Connections – India) joined Spurs in 1907 and spent less than a year with the club as he failed to dislodge Bob Walker / Billy Minter from his inside right position. He still scored 11 goals in 31 games.
