The tribute to White Hart Lane continues and we enter April. There are milestones a plenty including trophies, hat tricks and some 'other' games amongst the snapshots in time of the great old stadium. White Hart Lane - Then Now Forever. 28th March 1936 - We beat Southampton 8-0 in the League,(Meek and Hunt both get hat tricks). 28th March 1931 - Spurs play their 100th home game in Division Two V West Brom, 2-2. 28th March 1988 - The Danny Thomas Testimonial game sees Manchester United provide the opposition with John Barnes and Kenny Daglish appearing for Spurs. 29th March 1910 – The clubs first League hat trick comes from Billy Minter as we beat Blackburn Rovers Rovers 4-0. 29th March 1958 – Bobby Smith scores V Aston Villa and it is our 1,000 goal at home in Division One. It’s also his fourth hat trick of the season. 29th March 1986 - Gary Stevens scores his last goal for Spurs as we beat Arsenal 1-0. 30th March 1903 – Tottenham and a London League match sees us beat QPR 3-0. Hughes Copeland and Chambers scoring our goals. The following season Spurs would field the reserve side in this competition. 31st March 1934 – Tottenham’s 50th competitive hat trick is scored by George Hunt at home to Leeds United as we win 5-1. Its Hunts third hat trick of the month and fifth of the season. 31st March 1917 - our 10-0 win over Portsmouth is the biggest in the war time years and Jimmy Banks gets five of them. 31st March 1960 – A double in the Double season as we beat Chelsea 4-2 and we will win the return four days later 3-2. 1st April 1961 - Preston were on the receiving end of a cliff Jones hat trick, the second and last one of the double season as we win 5-0. Another Fools Day hat trick comes in 1992, Gary Linker (left) in the 3-0 win over West Ham. 2nd April 1952 – Quite possibly the most controversial goal scored at The Lane occurs when when Eddie Baily plays the ball off the ref from a corner as Spurs score V Huddersfield. 2nd April 1907 - A benefit game for S. Mountford, the Spurs play the ‘1901 Spurs team. The old-timers win 4-1 2nd April 1920 - Bert Bliss scores the first Spurs hat trick at home in division 2 (we had recorded two away previously) as we beat wolves 4-2 5th April 1962 – Tottenham go out of the European Cup despite winning 2-1 on the night to Benfica. Danny Blanchflower scores our first penalty in European action. 6th April 1901 – One of the greatest players to represent Tottenham Vivian Woodward (left) makes his debut in the Southern League game with Bristol City, we win 1-0. 7th April 1982 – Our 1-1 draw at home to Barcelona in the semi final of the ECWC sees our 100th goal scored in European action at WHL. 7th April 2014 Harry Kane gets his first league goal for Spurs as we beat Sunderland 5-1, (top image) 8th April 1905 - The 100th competitive game for Spurs at WHL sees us beat New Brompton 2-0 9th 1988 - The FA Cup semi final is played for the 12th and last time at WHl. Wimbledon overcome Luton 2-1. 10th April 1914 – Tiny Joyce becomes the only goalkeeper to score for us in the Football League when we beat Bolton 3-0 12th April 1967 - On the way to Wembley we beat birmingham 6-0 in C6th Rd replay. 13th April 1932 – The Lane witnesses RAF Uxbridge play The Horse Guards in the Bulldog Cup. 15th April 1963 Spurs beat Liverpool 7-2 and Greaves gets 4 and his fourth hat trick of the season. 16th April 1910 – Woolwich Arsenal travel to WHL for the first time in a Football League game. The game ends 1-1with nearly forty thousand present. 16th April 1924 - we beat an inter Varieties XI 7-1 16th April 1965 - Gilzean gets his first hat trick V Blackburn as we win 5-2 17th April 1900 – Woolwich make their first ever trip to WHL in a Southern District Combination game which Spurs win 4-2. 17th April 1948 - England Under 18’s make their first appearance at WHL when they beat Holland 3-2. The win means England win the first ever FIFA international Tournament at this age level. 17th April 1963 - England Under 18’s beat USSR 2-0. In their fourth game at The Lane. 17th April 1961 – WHL is the scene for Tottenham to clinch the Division One title. 18th April 1908 – Tottenham play their last home game in the Southern League a 3-0 win over Norwich City and the last goal comes from George Payne. 18th April 1929 – Edmonton Police play Kings Cross police. 19th April 1975 – Some of the worse trouble at WHl occurs at the Chelsea match, see above. 19th April 1913 - The last home game of season as we meet Woolwich Arsenal who had already been relegated it ends 1-1. We wont meet in the League again until January 1921. 21st April 1923 – Jimmy Cantrell plays against Birmingham City in a 2-0 win at the age of 40 years 349 days. 22nd April 1950 – Even though the league still has three games to play, The home game V Grimsby sees the second division trophy and handed over to Spurs.
