![]() Gareth Bale one of a long line of Welsh Wizards to have played for Tottenham. Currently one of the most famous footballers in the world. He was a Spurs player for six seasons and we take look back at his "Tottenham years" in his incredible career to date. ![]() Signing for Spurs in 2007 from Southampton he played his first game for Spurs in a friendly against St. Patrick's Athletic on 12 July 2007. He would go on to play 203 games for Tottenham scoring 55 times. Not bad for someone who started out as a full back. Before joining us he had been selected to play for Wales and on 27th May 2006 made his debut V Trinidad and Tobago in a friendly match. ![]() He earned a reputation early on at Spurs for being a 'bit of a Jonah.' As he appeared in 25 games - 1,533 minutes play before he ended up on the winning side for Spurs. Then on 26th September 2009 with Spurs winning 5-0 at home to Burnley he came on as a late substitute. ![]() He was eligible to play for England through his grandmother, when asked why he chose Wales he explained "It is an honour to play for Wales, nobody ever got in touch with me personally from England, only through my agent." At the time of writing he has 66 international caps and has scored 26 goals for his country. ![]() V Inter Milan in the Champions League where he announced to the world his arrival. The Welsh Footballer of the Year an amazing six times in seven years up to 2016. (he had 2012 off). As well as the BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year, 2010. He was in the Premier League PFA Team of the Year three times starting in 2010 ![]() Add to that in 2011 and 13 he was PFA Players' Player of the Year. Also in 2013 he picked up the PFA Young Player of the Year and the FWA Footballer of the Year: 2012–13. And has continued with numerous awards since leaving Spurs. ![]() Bale Trivia - He has scored more goals against Arsenal than any other Premier League team, with a total of five. Gareth was a member of the Great Britain team at the 2012 Olympic games in London. Since moving to Real Madrid he has won the Champions League three times and the FIFA World Club Cup. ![]() When he moved from Spurs he thanked the Club and its fans and said "Tottenham will always be in my heart" Left - With the Champions League trophy at the end of last season won in Cardiff.
