My previous World Cup nostalgic article was well received and I thought that as the World Cup gets underway (Spurs start in two days) you might enjoy a quick backwards glance at some more great pictures from previous competitions as we prepare for the next chapter in the story to be written.
With just a smidgen of trivia.

Picture

Above -  One of the best saves I've ever seen Gordon Banks turning Pele's header over the bar 1970.

Right - The Yugoslavian / Uruguay game 1930.

Left - France 'man the rigging' as they sail to Uruguay 1930.

Brazil have won the most games at 'the finals' with 70, Germany are second with 66 and Italy follow with 45.

The team that has drawn the most games in 'finals' is Italy with 21.
England are on 20 so we might see them set a new record this summer.

Below Right - Pele winner of three trophies.

Below an Argentinian double.

Left - Training at the 1934, event,
one of the two South American Sides to take part.

And Right -  In the team bus 1930.

Scotland have played in eight tournaments but never got past the first round.

2014 - saw the most goals scored in a tournament - 171.

Above Left - 1966 and after the World Cup was stolen a policeman guards the scene !
Right - Greaves 1962 - in the game with Brazil when he turned dog catcher.
Picture
Alan Mullery on 1970 - Pele told him that England were the only team that Brazil were frightened off (top pic). Brazil snatched a win with the only goal.

Mullery also said that he is asked more about that game than any other in his career.

Left - 1966 and TV even showed us how to make our own World Cup Willie

People are so into World Cup even before. One of the factors I see why people have become addicted to this is because the athletes are doing their best. You will know that they are passionate on what they do and being an athlete had became their lives. The photos were too nostalgic. You can see that athletes of the past are just enjoying the game while taking it seriously on the other hand. It seems like Fifa files has a lot of great photos to share!
