FIFA Files - 2

We start with this image from 1974. The Brazilians having won the World Cup trophy outright in 1970 a new trophy was introduced for the next tournament as we include some tales and pictures that didn't make the 'Rio' series.

In the next Files we investigate Spurs World Cup landmarks and stats for you to watch out  for during the coming conflict.

The first competition saw four European teams take part and they all traveled on the same ship to and from the competition.

Here we find the French,  Belgium's, Rumanians and the Yugoslavs outward bound.

1966 and a national scandal when the trophy is stolen from an exhibition in London before the competition.

Above the police investigate - yes the padlock was broken! and right Pickles a  national hero.

Right - 1950 and the England team. No2 is Tottenham's Alf Ramsey.

After the stamp story in File 1. When Columbia applied to host the 1986 tournament they produced a set of stamp's to support their bid. This (I'm told) is it.

Sadly the competition was held in Mexico.

Below Left - As we look forward to some exciting games this summer I wonder if we will get any results like Austria 7 Switzerland 5 (1954). Right - One of the all time greats Pele trains in heavy rain watched by one hopeful autograph hunter.
