How many words can describe the man ?
How many phrases can describe the pure grief,
Talented , gifted , classy and unique 
A tragic loss beyond a nations belief.

That fateful day now half a century ago .
When the world of football was rocked .
Tottenham couldn't control the devastating news ,
The occasion will forever be talked .

Why ? I'm afraid I can't answer that question.
Fate had a big part to play .
But the Ghost of the Ghost will never leave us ,
Etched in Tottenham's history now forever and a day . 

Remember the player and the father,
The husband , the Uncle and the man.
Remember the legend of a talented soul ,
Who left thoughts of excitement when he ran.

He was the player Bill wanted to build round , 
The foundation of a new lilywhite dawn,
Sadly that never developed , 
But the legacy will never be gone .

50 years have gone by , but the story remains , 
The echoes ring around White Hart Lane ,
The loss and parting of such a great player,
A new soul will be heavens new gain.

Greatness and an aura so special 
Legendary status is a right you must earn 
John White had all these traits in his locker
How we wish that sad fortune would turn .

The passing of any person is so tragic and sad 
One so young in the prime of his life,
Today my thoughts are with Johns family 
His children and his beloved good wife .

The Ghost , the Legend , the Father , the Spur 
Taken sadly before his life span should have been , 
For the many that had the privilege to behold him , 
One of the greatest players that this clubs ever seen . 

The great John White gone but never forgotten !
